Aboriginal Cultural Program

Mission Statement

The Aboriginal Cultural program for BNH is committed to the positive promotion of Aboriginal traditional and contemporary teachings and culture, based on Haudenosaunee and Anishiinabe world views; fostering and encouraging the healing of the spirit; and Aboriginal specific options to recovering from crisis. We offer culturally specific support and services for Aboriginal women, children and youth living in the Brant County area.

Services Include:

  • Develop or coordinate cultural activities in Brantford

  • Initial assessment, intake and information, and referral services, utilizing the Haudenausaunee Reconnection through the Tree Rings healing model

  • Assistance for women, children and youth interested in reconnecting to their own culture, traditions and ceremonies

  • Individual plan of care development based on traditional aspects of health and healing

  • Aboriginal specific health and healing resource information

  • Assist with emergency crisis intervention, as requested

  • Attend external agency interventions, as requested. (i.e. Hospital, Children’s Aid Society, Police, Probation, etc.)

  • Culturally specific workshops and information for community agencies

·         Referral Process

 Individuals may refer themselves. A community worker and/or agency may also make a referral on your behalf. However, all referrals are voluntary and individuals must consent to the referral.
